For two Texas-based bitcoin miners, the oil deposit offers a dream resource: wasted energy. Brent Whitehead and Matt Lohstroh, both graduates of Texas A&M University, have been mining bitcoin on the oil fields of East Texas since 2019. That's when they founded Giga Energy with the goal of taking flared natural gas and turning it into electricity to run bitcoin mines, which are notoriously power-thirsty. Whitehead comes from a long line of "wildcats," a term used to describe those who engage in high-risk exploratory drilling. On the small pilot site in Argentina, Exa Tech is handling operations on the ground, Phoenix Global is providing the gas and Giga is supplying the equipment.

CNN —Another day, another record broken by Iowa’s Caitlin Clark. In the Hawkeyes’ 95-62 Big Ten Tournament win against the Penn State Lady Lions on Friday, Clark eclipsed NBA star Steph Curry’s record of most three-pointers hit in a single NCAA Division-I season. However, Clark has now surpassed the man who many consider the greatest three-point shooter in the history of basketball. Clark eventually found her groove and was able to sink the crucial three to write her name in yet another page of the history books. (AP) — The Dartmouth men's basketball team voted to unionize Tuesday in an unprecedented step toward forming the first labor union for college athletes and another attack on the NCAA's deteriorating amateur business model. TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have agreed to hire Kentucky assistant coach Liam Coen to be their offensive coordinator, a person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press. Coen would replace Dave Canales, who left to become Carolina’s head coach after one season in Tampa Bay. Coen, who was the Wildcats’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, spent the 2022 season as the offensive coordinator for the Rams, where Baker Mayfield made four starts. Mayfield revived his career with Canales and the Buccaneers, leading them to an NFC South title and a playoff win.
